Interviews

Presenting The Child Psychotherapist:

We feel it’s appropriate that our first interviews on MINDinMIND are with the pioneers of child psychotherapy. For the first time in one place you can hear from luminaries such as Anne Alvarez, Gianna Polacco Williams, Isca Wittenberg, Juliet Hopkins, Ann Horne, Jeanne Magagna, Dilys Daws, Monica Lanyado and Lydia Tischler.

We believe everyone who cares for children, whether they are parents or professionals such as child psychotherapists, play workers, social workers, family therapists or teachers, will deepen their understanding about what best helps the children in their care to flourish.

Our ‘Child Psychotherapy Greats’ are responsible for establishing some of the first ever children’s therapy services. They developed theories and ideas which shape our clinical thinking today on topics such as: Attachment Theory (Juliet Hopkins), Containment (Isca Wittenberg), Double Deprivation (Gianna Polacco Williams), No-entry Defences linked to eating disorders (Gianna Polacco Williams and Jeanne Magagna), Reclamation (Anne Alvarez), Containment (Isca Wittenberg), Endings & Loss (Isca Wittenberg), Infant Observation (Isca Wittenberg and Jeanne Magagna), Infant Mental Health (Dilys Daws), adoption (Monica Lanyado) and Childhood Trauma (Monica Lanyado).
